How Pokemon TCG Pocket Trading Works

Pokemon TCG Pocket brings the Pokemon Trading Card Game to mobile with a unique digital collection and trading system. Trading uses a stamina-based system with rarity matching requirements that make finding the right trade partner essential.

The trading system has several unique mechanics:

~7 trades per day (stamina-based) — Trading costs stamina that regenerates over time, limiting you to approximately 7 trades per day. SwapDeck helps you spend stamina on the best possible trades.
Rarity matching required — You can only trade cards of the same rarity tier. You cannot trade a common for a rare. SwapDeck finds partners with matching rarity levels.
Shinedust costs — Some trades require spending Shinedust, a resource earned by opening packs. Higher rarity trades cost more Shinedust. SwapDeck calculates optimal spending.
Friend code system — You need to be friends to trade, using friend codes. SwapDeck provides a hub to share and discover codes from active traders.
Expansion-based collections — Cards are organized by expansion sets. New expansions add hundreds of cards regularly.

Pokemon TCG Pocket features one of the largest card collections of any mobile trading game, with thousands of cards across multiple expansions and rarity tiers.

Multiple expansions — New card sets released regularly, each with unique Pokemon and artwork
Diamond rarity (1-4) — Common to uncommon cards with 1-4 diamond ratings
Star rarity — Rare cards marked with 1-3 stars, significantly harder to pull from packs
Shiny variants — Special shiny versions of cards with alternate artwork
Crown rarity — The rarest tier, featuring the most sought-after cards in the game
Immersive cards — Special full-art cards with unique visual effects

Key Terminology

Term	Definition
Expansion	A themed set of cards released together (e.g., Genetic Apex, Mythical Island). New expansions add to the total card pool.
Diamond Rarity	Common-to-uncommon rarity tiers from 1 to 4 diamonds. Most cards fall in this range.
Star Rarity	Rare cards marked with 1-3 stars. Significantly harder to pull and more valuable in trades.
Shiny	Special alternate-art variants of cards with a shiny/holographic effect.
Crown	The highest and rarest tier. Crown cards are extremely scarce and highly coveted.
Shinedust	Resource earned from opening packs and recycling cards. Used to craft specific cards or enable trades.
Stamina	Regenerating resource that limits how many trades you can make per day (~7/day).
Friend Code	Unique code used to add other players as friends, required before you can trade with them.
Pack Points	Earned from opening packs, can be saved to guarantee a specific card from a set.
Immersive Card	Special full-art cards with animated visual effects, among the most visually impressive in the game.
